Helping Growth Pay for Growth

Narrator>>Ontario has a housing shortage. It’s driving up costs and making renting and owning a home unaffordable. To increase housing supply, home builders need more certainty about costs… And municipalities need a way to pay for libraries, parks, playgrounds and other important community services. New developments must help fund the things growing communities need. That’s why we’re proposing to change how these services would be funded — through development charges or a new community benefits charge. Builders would know their costs from the start. Municipalities would be able to recover 100% of the cost of more community services. And more people would be able to find homes in vibrant, complete communities that they can afford.
